Hey everyone! Come on a journey with me this today to learn about the history of the internet and how we use it. You must know a little about it since you’re using it to view this blog already, but do you know how it came to exist and all the functions it allows us to do now? I didn’t, but I do now!
The internet has quite a history and wasn’t originally intended to be used for all the things we use it for now in most cases. The internet was created during the Cold War as the US DoD needed a computer network that wouldn’t be able to be hacked or disrupted easily under attack. The internet was developed in large part due to the work of the “fathers of the internet”, Vinton Cerf and Robert Kahn under the Advanced Research Projects Agency Network or ARPANET project. The communication protocols they created in the 1960’s and 1970’s are still in use today on the version of the internet that we use.
